What to Expect
Ten Mile Gallery (十里画廊, Shílǐ Huàláng) is a 6 km valley lined with hundreds of closely-spaced sandstone pillars. The valley is shallow enough that pillars are visible from road level — unlike the deeper Yuanjiajie area where pillars are best seen from height.
Most visitors ride the tourist cableway along the length of the valley (10-minute ride) and then walk back. The combination of aerial views and ground-level walking gives a complete sense of scale.
The Route
The cableway runs the full length of the valley from south to north. Ride it first in the morning when the light is on the valley floor, then walk back south on the paved path below.
The Rockfall Forest section at the mid-point is a cluster of toppled and leaning pillars — a striking contrast to the upright formations elsewhere in the park.
Practical Tips
- Ride the cableway in the morning when the light is on the valley floor; walk back in the afternoon.
- The walking path is paved and flat. Suitable for all fitness levels.
- Combines well with Yuanjiajie — take the eco-bus from Ten Mile Gallery to Yuanjiajie cable car station.
- Less crowded than Yuanjiajie and Golden Whip Stream on weekdays.
